Monday 5/9/22 – The Journey

Jesus, thank You! Thank You for the mothers in my life that give me a glimpse of Your unconditional love for us. Thank You for meeting me where I was at in my life. Thank You for loving me, unconditionally. Thank You, Lord! Praise You, Lord! Bless You, Lord Jesus!

I’m reading MERE CHRISTIANITY by C.S. LEWIS and the study guide that accompanies it led me to SURPRISED BY JOY, also by LEWIS. I wasn’t going to post today as I was preferring reading in addition to some tasks in my garage today and I was tired. I was meditating before I continued to read SURPRISED BY JOY and as I read, I felt inspired. Inspired to write a poem. I wasn’t needing to share it here as it’s a very rough draft, but my wife encouraged me, so here I am. Hopefully some will enjoy it and maybe it will even help someone.

THE JOURNEY
-You freed me from the prison
You said look, your shackles are unlocked
Follow me outside the gates
I will be your teacher
-Surrender if you will, to Me
And I will show you greater things
What you did with my surrender
I trust and I will follow
Your plans are better for me
I ask that Your will is what I desire
-The enemy tried to distract me
To keep me unaware
You and I persisted
I submitted myself to You
-I resisted and rebuked the enemy
You rewarded my persistence
You’ve given me another sense
A sense of which I have much to learn
-Now we talk to many
Ask them many questions
We remove them from their normal
Make them wonder if there’s more
Many have been harmed and hurt
They don’t need another religion
What they need to see
A disciple of Christ
They need to experience the love of Jesus
-Where we go from here
I continue to trust and I will follow
Thank You for Your blessings, Lord
Thank You for leading me
Things of this world aren’t important
Only learning your love for me And who I am to You -A humble warrior in God’s army

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”
-Romans 8:1‭-‬2 ESV

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil, for Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever, Amen. -The Lords Prayer

I'm learning how to follow after Jesus and what that looks like. I believe that I have the ultimate teacher leading me through this journey.
