Father God, I come to You in Jesus’ Name, I thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit to teach us all things and to remind us of all that Jesus said. I thank You for this day. This day has been productive as well as restful. Thank You for all the blessings You continue to pour out on my family, friends, co-workers, and me. I thank You for giving me eyes to see a small portion of all the ways I am blessed. I thank You for giving my soul ears to hear Your voice as You lead, guide, and direct me on my journey. I am thankful for the small amount of awareness I have gained so far in my journey. I ask that if it is Your will, Lord, that Your Holy Spirit speaks through me to anyone who finds this post and that it may be a blessing in their life. I pray for world peace, to end world hunger, and for everyone who knows right from wrong, that they would have the courage to stand up for those that may not have the courage or strength to stand up for themselves. All these things I ask in the mighty, holy, and precious Name of Jesus, my Lord, and Savior, Amen.
I have been reading a book about John G. Lake and I had to set it aside for some time as it is not what I would consider “easy reading.” The subject matter is deep and it feels like I can get lost in just a few paragraphs, not lost like I don’t know where I’m at, but lost that there is something deep being covered and I can’t quite wrap my brain around it. As I picked it up this time and began reading, it helped me to understand one of the big reasons why I feel different than I did before I started this journey. “We do not know God with our flesh, with our hands, nor with our brains. We know God with our spirit. The knowledge of God that our spirit attains may be conveyed and is conveyed to us through the medium of our mind, through the medium of our brains. The effect of God in our body comes through the medium of the spirit of man through the mind of man into the body of man.” (JOHN G. LAKE HIS LIFE HIS SERMONS HIS BOLDNESS OF FAITH). So, what does this mean? I think that it means we can not find God intellectually, this is not a test where we need to study to find God. However, we have to know of God, and enough about the Spirit of God to be able to know that we can surrender our spirit to Him and His will. I had learned about God while I was growing up in a Christian household, going to a Christian school, and attending church and related activities each week. I knew about God, but I didn’t know God. It seemed weird to have a relationship with someone that I couldn’t see, it felt like talking to myself, and I was taught by the world that people that talk to themselves are crazy and should be in an institution. I’m learning that everything I was taught by the world, at best, is not quite what it appeared to be and, at worst, was an outright lie to keep anyone from finding the truth. What is truth? “Be still and know, that I am God.” The world does not teach us to be still, or at least I was not taught this. Be the busiest person you can be, busy people are important people, busy people get things done, busy, busy, busy. I had to have the Teacher show me how to be still, lead me to several videos and books that taught me to sit with myself and observe my thoughts, without judgment, just acknowledge that my thoughts were there. Then I could see them one by one and determine what thoughts served me best for who I am today. The rest of the thoughts, no matter how dark they were, I had to acknowledge that while I may not like them, they are a part of me and may be served who I used to be and also helped lead me to be who I am today. I am learning that if I try to turn a blind eye to my thoughts or resist them, they persist, it is better for me to acknowledge them, determine whether they serve me best at this time or not, and if not, it is time to cut them off, to prune the branches, to pull the weeds. This doesn’t mean that those thoughts or others do not return, but that I am more aware of them today and can address them quicker than before. I believe, based on what I’ve learned, and my journey so far, that we have to find a way to quiet our mind, ask God for eyes to see, and ears to hear, and that He opens the ears of our spirit to connect with Him, to begin a relationship with Him, and we do this by trying to follow in the footsteps of Jesus as described in the stories and teachings of the Bible. It’s simple, Jesus fulfilled the law with 2 commandments; Love and serve God, love and serve others. It’s simple, but it’s certainly not easy. To love God, one has to know God, how can you love someone that you don’t even know? To know God, is to know that God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. Our spirit connects to His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, and then I believe we can begin to know Him through our mind and through our body, but I believe it starts with our spirit as John G. Lake said, as well as my personal experience. The enemy fears this connection and will do ANYTHING to stop it from happening, push forward, connect with the Holy Spirit of God, and together we will destroy the kingdom of satan, here on earth. -A humble warrior in God’s army
“Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.’” -John 4:21-24 ESV
Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil, for Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever and ever, Amen. -The Lord’s prayer
